COMING TO A CLOSE

I'm trying to put a close to my new years resolution and all I have left to develope is a few rolls of 120, a hand full of 35 and a shit load of scanning. Nothing a few late nights won't solve. I will wait on scanning the medium format because my all-in-one scanner/copier/printer just doesn't do that well with scanning negatives.

These photos are from a contest in East Oakland put on by Roughneck Skateboards. At the time I just got a roll film back for my old Kodak and wanted to take it for a spin.

ANYTHING YOU COULD GIVE IS GREATLY APRECIATED

SUPPORT A WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE LIVING SPACE FOR KAMON

As the youngest child of Amon and Cina Sherriff in a blended family of ten children, Kamon Sherriff Ross learned very early the importance of family, cooperation and caring. In his 20 years he has proven himself to be an obedient and loving son, a helpful and kind sibling, as well as a concerned and loyal friend.

His quiet confidence, easy intelligence and 6’5” athletic frame makes him a standout in any crowd. Although quite skilled as a basketball player he chose to focus his attention on academics rather than organized sports.

In 2008, he graduated from Stone Mountain High School in the top ten percent of his class, as a member of the National Beta Club and the National Honor Society. He was also an AP Merit Scholar and a Hope Scholarship recipient.

He entered Southern Polytechnic University in Marietta, Georgia as a software engineer major. In his five semesters there he has maintained a 3.5 GPA and a place on the Dean’s list.

Saturday, November 6, 2010 Kamon’s life was forever changed when a fall from a 3 story balcony left him with a broken spine. He is now recovering and graciously accepting the changed body and the new life that he must now live.

The Sherriff/Ross/Smith family would greatly appreciate any contribution that you could make to help us modify the basement in our split-level home to accommodate Kamon's new lifestyle.

Please keep us in your prayers. Gratitude, Peace and Blessings to you all!

WORKING HARD FOR THE MONEY

Photo - Ando Caulfield

Staying up late trying to work on a project but its so late I'm spacing out. In the process of going through an old hard drive I found this Polaroid Ando shot of me back when I used to work at Milk Bar. I miss the days of going home from work with cash in my pocket. I can't wait for all those Polaroids he was taking back then to resurface.

AWW SHEET

I picked up a couple boxes of 4x5 film and a sheet film developing tank from urban ore a while back. I knew I would eventually need the tank and for $6 I jumped on it. The film was like 60 cents a box, so if it was exposed... oh well. I had to trim the film down a little to fit 9x12cm for my old folding Kodak. Next time I'm going to use something better than a cardboard template and an exacto knife, but for testing the film it got the job done.

I had to wait till he was sleep to set up, focus and take a shot with that old camera. I can barely do it with a manual focus slr, he is to quick.

Sorry Sabah, I wish this one had come out better. I took ten minutes setting up the shot with some house plants in the forground and crap. Thats what I get for trying to use the whole negative.

Shot this last one of my wash tub sink, late night while developing film. I figured I might as well shot this last one and see if this sheet film is any good. Its defenitly worth what I paid for it. So I have about 25 more sheets to mess around with. Its should be fun.

WHERE MY DOGS AT?

A while back I mailed a print of a photo I took to a guy who does a blog/print exchanged program. I really liked the blog and wanted to participate. I didn't want to just send him some crap, so while taking a photo class over the summer to clock some dark room time I printed some photos I liked and decided to send one to him. He's been doing it for 4 years but as of late has gotten lazy (self proclaimed) and doesn't post the photos, he just does a quick video thingy (bummer/bammer). So I'm in there at 1:34 real quick. I put the picture up also if you didn't get a good look. I hope he is still doing the exchange part of the deal.

FOR THE LOW

If you know me, you know I'm all about finding deals. As much as I would like to keep it a secret, sometimes its better to share. In my search for good deals on film I've come up with a few online retailer that have good prices. One thing to keep in mind though is the price of shipping.

FILM ONLINE
ecamerafilms.com
freestylephoto.biz
ultrafineonline.com

DISPOSABLE CAMERAS ONLINE
thegiftmallonline.com
customcameracollection.com

CHEAP COLOR PROCESSING
Although its not online and you need to be a member, Costco is my shit right now. After paying $6 a roll for process only at some pro lab and having it be sub par. I'm all about paying $1.60 (they said $2 at first but I won't argue). It cost $5 if you want it processed and scanned to a disc. If you have access to a film scanner, find a friend with a costco card and get your C41 processed for the cheap.

If anyone knows of some other cheap spots please let me know.

TESTING, TESTING

I decided to take a beginning photography class this summer to get reacquainted with the dark room. It has been good. I'm finding it a little hard to complete the assignments. I just want to print my stuff. Its coming to an end this week, so I need to mash out my last few assignments for the class.
